297 – The “Oh Shit” Moment + Why You Keep Abandoning Your Goals

by | Jun 17, 2026 | Podcast - The Drop Set | 0 comments

This week I’m getting personal. I had a moment this past weekend where my prep got real — a diet and cardio revision landed and the initial reaction was honestly just defeat. Not dramatic, not a breakdown, just a quiet “oh.” I’m going to walk through exactly what that felt like, what the revision actually looks like, and what happened in the hours after when I had a chance to sit with it and let it settle. Because that shift from “oh shit” to “challenge accepted” is what prep actually is — and I don’t think people talk about that arc honestly enough.

Then I’m getting into something I see constantly with clients at every level — the moment things get hard and the reflexive instinct is to quit. Travel comes up, schedules change, life gets complicated, and suddenly stopping feels justified. But these same people don’t quit their jobs when a project gets difficult. They don’t walk away from their families when things get hard. Fitness gets a different standard than everything else in life and I want to talk about why that happens, why it doesn’t hold up, and what staying in the game at an imperfect level actually produces over time compared to the cycle of perfect and quit.
