About Darin Starr
Competitor and coach
Hey all, Darin here. Bios are weird to write, aren’t they? I’ll be brief.
I’ve been doing this a long time as my full-time gig and I feel lucky to have been able to make a space for myself in this industry helping other people hit their goals. It’s a cool thing and I don’t lose sight of that.
My main philosophy is simply to treat everyone as an individual person and give them the technical expertise and personal connection they need to get the job done, whatever that job is. For some people this is a “sit down and shut up” approach where they just follow orders, for others it’s much more interactive if they enjoy learning about the what and why of their bodybuilding journey. Some people want to drop 20 or 30 pounds to feel better, some people want to earn an IFBB pro card or win their first pro show and earn an Olympia qualification. Everyone’s journey is important and gets my full attention.

Online coaching is different
Coaching people online is VERY different from being a “trainer” in person. Coaches are expected (fairly…it’s what we promise) to deliver a comprehensive plan and program. A trainer is there to put you through a workout. They may offer extra stuff on the side (meal plans, etc) but for many it’s an afterthought and they either never deliver on that or it’s lacking detail, specificity, and follow-up.
