Why Coaching Isn’t an Expense (It’s Actually Saving You Money)

When people first see my coaching rates, their gut reaction is often: “$200 a month? That’s a lot.”

(to be clear – it’s not.  Coaching these days is a big business and spending $300-400/month on a coach is commonplace)

And look—I get it. But here’s the reality: if you’re serious about your physique, you’re probably already spending close to that. The difference is, you’re spending it on the wrong things.

The Supplement Trap

Walk through any gym bag or pantry and you’ll find:

  • Overpriced Pre-workouts that you take because it “feels good.”
  • BCAAs
  • Greens powders, “fat burners,” maybe a random supplement (or 7) you saw on YouTube.

That stuff adds up fast—$50 here, $70 there—and before you know it, you’re burning $100-200 a month (conservatively) on things that make little to no difference.

When I start working with clients, one of the first things I often do is slash their supplement list in half. Not because I hate supplements—but because most of them don’t move the needle. And that $100? Now it’s freed up.  Even if you don’t hire a coach, you’re saving money.  Win/win!

What Coaching Actually Does

Here’s what $200/month of coaching gets you instead:

  • A plan designed for your body and goals (not something downloaded from Google).
  • Weekly adjustments—because no program works forever without tweaks.
  • Accountability: someone looking at your numbers, your photos, your progress.
  • Qualified and expert answers to any and all questions you can come up with

That means you’re no longer wasting gym time guessing, hoping today’s workout sticks. You stop spinning your wheels, and suddenly every session counts that much more.

Uh oh.  Math!

So let’s do the math:

  • $200 for coaching
  • Minus $100-200 you stop wasting on useless supplements
  • Net $0-$100/month for actual results

Still sound expensive?

The Bigger Picture

You don’t hire a coach because you can’t figure out a leg press. You hire a coach because your time is valuable, and guessing is expensive. When you’re putting in 5–10 hours a week in the gym, it makes zero sense to fly blind.

Coaching is about efficiency, progress, and ROI. If you’re already investing the time, this is how you make it truly pay off.
