I hate being negative, it’s just not really in my nature (sarcastic, yes – negative, no).  So while I hate the negative title of this post, it’s probably true.

For every man and woman who steps on stage looking their absolute best, there are probably 3-5 who missed the mark considerably (I’m being generous with that number).  For every person on stage who missed their mark, there are probably 5-20 who tried to get up there and failed.  For every 1 who tried and failed, there are who-the-f-knows-how-many who didn’t even try because they don’t really know what they’re doing, and they often readily admit that.

5x5? Volume hypertrophy? HIIT or steady state? Compound lifts or iso work? This guy has no clue, so stop listening to him.

So just going by the numbers, it’s pretty safe for me to say that the program of the average blog reader probably sucks.  There’s a simple reason why, with a solution that is as simple or as complicated as you make it.

What’s the reason?

You’re probably following someone else’s program.

Maybe your friend told you about the diet they used to get dialed in for their last show.  Maybe you took the easy road out and grabbed the magazine with the headline “ADD 25 LBS THIS OFF SEASON” and threw yourself full-force into that.  Or maybe you just wing it completely and hope for the best.  All of these are common, and none of them are ideal.

The simple answer is this – when you find the right combination of diet and training style, you will know it with every pound of your body.  You won’t catch yourself saying “wow, that was a good workout yesterday”, but rather “holy *&^^%, that was amazing”.  You shouldn’t wonder if your diet is working because you should be seeing regular, steady results and have a reasonable amount of energy, regardless of what phase of your training you’re in.

This is what I specialize in.  Finding the right program for you, so you can stop spinning your wheels and start discovering your true potential as a physique competitor.  If you’re in the Asheville area, let’s talk today about what the future has in store for you.
